When does your trip begin and end?

You can take out all insurances that contain a travel cancellation insurance when booking the trip – though 30 days before the start of the trip at the latest. If there are less than 30 days between the booking and the start of the journey, the contract must be concluded on the 3rd workday after the booking of the journey at the latest. For last-minute flights that are booked a maximum of 30 days before commencement of the journey, especially favourable conditions apply for last-minute-travel cancellation insurance. All other travel insurances can be concluded at any time before the commencement of the journey. The insurance cover begins as soon as you have paid the insurance premium.

Who is travelling?

A family is deemed to be a maximum of two adults with at least one travelling child (irrespective of the family relationship and place of residence) under the age of 21 (up to 21st birthday), up to a total of seven children.

Please note: The family rates do not apply to two adults without children.

A group consists of at least 10 persons, and in the case of train journeys at least six persons. The travel date and destination must be the same for all travellers in the group.

Which countries are included in Europe?

The geographical term Europe shall apply. The neighbouring states of the African and Asian Mediterranean region, the Canary Islands, the Azores and Madeira are classified as exceptions to Europe.

The following countries and territories fall under the scope of cover Europe:

Egypt, Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina , Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Great Britain / Gibraltar, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan (to the Urals), Kosovo, Croatia, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Macedonia, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway / Spitsbergen, Austria, Poland, Portugal / Madeira / Azores, Romania, Russia (to the Urals), San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain / Canary Islands, Syria, Czech Republic, Tunisia, Turkiye, Ukraine, Hungary, Vatican City, Belarus, Cyprus.

Boat trips are all journeys on water. When booking your travel insurance, please select “boat trip” as the type of journey if the boat trip will take up more than one third of the total length of your trip (e.g. one week river cruise and one week hotel).

Exceptions:
"Blue voyages" in Turkiye and Nile cruise trips in the tour operator's brochures, ferry crossings and houseboats. In this case, please select “plane journey”, or “car, coach and train journey” for ferry crossings, as the type of journey.

Foreign Health Insurance

  • We accept the costs of necessary medical treatment abroad, including for example, treatment by a doctor, in hospital as well as pharmaceutical products.
  • We will also reimburse the costs of co-insured accompanying persons, e.g. if you are travelling with children abroad and these must undergo in-patient treatment, or if ill members of the family have to be transported back to the home country.
  • We will inform you about the possibilities of medical treatment at the holiday resort and will name, where possible, a German-speaking or English-speaking doctor.
